The Dream Before the Bakery

Long before there were floral cupcakes or cakesicles, there was another dream.

A place called The Garden.

A place where people could step away from the noise of everyday life and simply be. A place where families could reconnect, couples could breathe again, friendships could grow deeper, and people could encounter God through intentional hospitality.

We didn't know exactly what it would look like. We just knew we wanted to create spaces where people felt seen, welcomed, and deeply loved.

Start With What You Have

As we dreamed about The Garden, it felt impossibly far away. One day, a friend gave us simple advice that completely changed our perspective:

"Start with what you have."

Instead of waiting for someday, we realized we could begin living out that vision today. We didn't have acres of land. We didn't have retreat spaces. But we did know how to make desserts. And we knew that some of the most meaningful conversations, celebrations, and memories happen around a table.

So we started there.

A Father and Daughter

Flour & Fern is more than a business. It's a father-and-daughter dream.

Growing up, my dad celebrated every milestone in my life—big and small. He showed up, encouraged me, believed in me, and taught me that people flourish when they know someone is cheering them on.

When I shared this dream with him, there was never really another option. We were going to build it together. Today, every order we make carries a little bit of that same heart: to help someone else feel celebrated the way I've always been celebrated.

The First Table

People often ask us if Flour & Fern is just a bakery. The answer is no.

Flour & Fern is the first expression of a much bigger vision. Every floral cupcake, every celebration box, every dessert table, every cakesicle, and every handwritten note is another opportunity to prepare the table. Because preparing the table has never really been about dessert.

It's about creating space for people to slow down, gather together, celebrate one another, and remember what matters most. The bakery is simply where that vision began.
